Dưới sự chỉ đạo của Cục Thể thao Bộ Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch Việt Nam, giải đấu thể thao điện tử năm 2026 do Tổng công ty Truyền thông VTC Multimedia phối hợp với các cơ quan liên quan tổ chức được coi là cột mốc quan trọng mở đầu một giai đoạn mới phát triển chuyên nghiệp và quốc tế của thể thao điện tử Việt Nam, đồng thời gắn kết chặt chẽ với các chiến lược phát triển ngành văn hóa, kinh tế thể thao và kinh tế số.

Phát biểu tại lễ khai mạc, ông Huang Dao Gang, Thứ trưởng Bộ Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch Việt Nam cho biết, sự kiện này đánh dấu việc thể thao điện tử Việt Nam bước vào một giai đoạn mới phát triển chuẩn mực và chuyên nghiệp hơn. Nó cũng phản ánh quyết tâm cao của Chính phủ trong việc hỗ trợ phát triển các dự án thể thao mới nổi trong môi trường kỹ thuật số để thích ứng với sự phát triển của thời đại và hội nhập xu hướng quốc tế.

Với chủ đề “Nâng cao tầm ảnh hưởng quốc gia và bước ra sân khấu quốc tế”, giải đấu thể thao điện tử 2026 được xây dựng thành sự kiện thể thao điện tử cấp quốc gia có tầm ảnh hưởng quốc tế, thu hút hơn 1.000 vận động viên tham gia. Trong đó, trận chung kết quy tụ hơn 130 vận động viên, đoàn đại biểu đến từ 10 quốc gia và khu vực, trong đó có Việt Nam, Hàn Quốc, Nhật Bản, Trung Quốc, Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ và nhiều quốc gia, khu vực Đông Nam Á, tranh tài quyết liệt trong 4 ngày liên tiếp từ 9 đến 12/7. Điều này thể hiện đầy đủ sức hấp dẫn ngày càng tăng của thể thao điện tử Việt Nam, đồng thời cũng nêu bật mục tiêu của Việt Nam là trở thành nền tảng quan trọng cho các sự kiện, giao lưu và hợp tác thể thao điện tử quốc tế.
